PRESS RELEASE
TORONTO, ON (January 17, 2012) Nexterra Green Homes Ltd. is pleased to announce that Canada’s very first prefab LivingHome® will be arriving in Toronto by flatbed trucks on Wednesday, January 25 (weather permitting). The Nexterra LivingHome show home, the first of four homes in this eco-enclave, is on track to become the first prefabricated LEED® Canada for Homes Platinum Certified project. Situated on a lush ravine property at 20 Senlac Avenue , it will officially be on the real estate market in February 2012.
“LivingHomes, a leader in world-class prefabricated architecture, has designed this modern home with an unparalleled commitment to healthy and sustainable construction,” said Gary Lands, President of Nexterra Green Homes Ltd. “We have created a healthy, efficient, durable and beautiful home on the inside and out and I’m confident that our LivingHome will become the first prefab LEED Canada for Homes Platinum Certified project.”
Constructed in a matter of weeks, the Nexterra LivingHome will arrive in Toronto as six separate modules on four flatbed trucks. Within hours, the assembly will see a 250-tonne crane bring together 2100 square feet of modules with 1000 square feet of finished basement and a 2-car garage, transforming a neglected ravine lot into a world-class home designed by internationally-recognized architect Ray Kappe, FAIA. The home’s many green features include energy efficient systems and appliances, low flow plumbing fixtures, and responsible and sustainable materials (i.e. FSC® certified wood, zero VOC paint, etc.). Nexterra Green Homes has confirmed that there are an additional three ravine homes available for purchase, creating an “eco-enclave” on a private laneway. Nexterra Green Homes’ goal is to encourage a new generation of innovative prefabricated homes in Canada, combining modern, world-class architecture with an unparalleled commitment to healthy and sustainable construction.
After assembling the modules, Nexterra Green Homes will finish, paint and furnish the home from top-to-bottom with products from Nexterra’s partners – all are leaders in Canadian and/or eco-friendly design. Upon completion in early March, open houses and media tours will be available. Partners featured in the home are at the forefront of sustainability and include: Euro-Line Appliances, Caesarstone, WETSTYLE, Scavollini (presented by Dekla), PARA Paints, Laura Felstiner, LEED AP, aquabrass, Classic Fireplace, Tembec, GUS* Design Group, Canaroma, Invision Hardwood & Decor, Bev Hisey, Elte, ella+elliot™, Latitude, Eurolite and more.
